Copy & technical writing ...

The recently created websites, Mount Fuji & GWN Group, both benefited from having content written by Paul Smith. Content is certainly king and most businesses cannot afford to spend time and resources creating all the content for their website.

Read what Gary Walsh at GWN said about his new site...

"The redesign of the website was long overdue. Our old site was 5 pages in size and that simply did not reflect who we were and more importantly what we had become within the industry. The design brief was for a site that would be appealing and informative to knowledgeable main contractors and their agents. Both myself and the management team are delighted with the final outcome. It is particularly nice to see the 'work in progress' photographs and the pictures of our tradesmen featuring so prominently. The site designer, Paul Smith, has done a superb job, particularly in relation to the content he created for us, and I look forward to the site developing over the coming months. All the work we are doing with BenchmarkQ and our ISO9001 certification will soon feature prominently. Also, two large projects are being commissioned soon and our new website will showcase them."

In terms of site content, we will produce an 'oak tree from an acorn'. Search engines love big sites and your customers will want to read detail and in-depth content. Creating the wording for websites takes a great deal of experience. You need to balance interesting wording along with the repetition of keywords. Two important factors are therefore important to bear in mind:-

  1. People will read a fraction of the words on your site (you need to grab their attention as they may click away in a matter of seconds).
  2. Search engines will robotically read every word on every page!

Which one is more important? Well, people will ultimately generate your sales but they won't find you unless a search engine has scored you highly. Search engines read text; so it is vital that you are aware of the balancing act that a good web content writer can achieve. The positioning of text on the page is also vitally important. Headings need to be used carefully and the text at the top of the page (covering the various element from left to right) carries a higher weighting.

Lots of good technical content can also result in other sites linking to yours. This will also boost your search engine performance.
